In February 2007, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President and Prime Minister of The UAE and Ruler of Dubai, ordered the establishment of a fund to contribute to the creation of an ideal educational and knowledge environment. His Highness stressed that the fund would work to raise the quality of education in Dubai in accordance with best practices and international standards.
His Highness stated that the establishment of the fund, and its investment portfolio, aims to employ the profit and return on investment in securing, providing and developing financial resources and providing the resources necessary to finance and sponsor the implementation of future educational initiatives and projects.
The fund would contribute to accelerating the implementation of Dubai’s strategy to achieve a tangible leap in educational services and improve them by adopting the best international educational standards and practices and placing them in a framework that is compatible with the needs of the local community.
In November 2007, the Knowledge Fund was established and tasked with supporting the education sector in Dubai.
