Dubai Schools Project

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council, announced the Dubai Schools project in March 2021, reflecting the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, to develop a world-class educational model that enhances learning quality and prepares a generation capable of leading Dubai’s knowledge-based future economy.

The first phase of the project launched in September 2021 with the opening of Dubai Schools Al Barsha and Dubai Schools Al Khawaneej, followed by the establishment of Dubai Schools Nad Al Sheba to meet rising demand and expand access to high-quality education. All schools are operated by Taaleem, one of the region’s leading education providers, ensuring international best practices in teaching and school management.

The project aims to build modern schools adopted by the Government of Dubai and operated through a strategic public–private partnership, providing contemporary education in science and technology at accessible costs and in alignment with global standards. This initiative reflects Dubai’s commitment to nurturing a high-quality educational environment that supports a competitive, innovative, knowledge-driven society.

Dubai Schools follow international curricula delivered in English, while ensuring excellence in Arabic, Islamic Studies, and Social Studies, and enhancing the values and cultural identity of the UAE. The Knowledge Fund Establishment provides the infrastructure, assets, and financial support required for the project, including scholarships for Emirati students based on approved policies.

Aligned with the Dubai Social Agenda 33 and the Dubai Education Strategy 2033 (E33)—and in line with the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to reach a total capacity of 15,000 students by the year 2033—the Dubai Schools project includes a major expansion at Dubai Schools Nad Al Sheba to enhance its facilities and increase student capacity.

This development forms part of the strategic plan approved by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in January 2024, allocating AED 530 million to increase capacity across the Dubai Schools network. The Nad Al Sheba expansion consists of two phases:

  • Phase One delivered 31 new classrooms providing 777 seats ahead of the 2025–26 academic year.
  • Phase Two, scheduled for completion by July 2026, will add 114 classrooms and 31 laboratories and specialist rooms, raising total capacity to 2,664 seats.

This expansion supports population growth and enhances access to world-class education that meets international standards while preparing future generations to contribute to Dubai’s innovation-driven economy.
